MATSUEDA’s works begin with familiar signs and everyday objects. By shaping transparent PET over printed surfaces, he creates “impossible moments” in which flat images appear to acquire movement and escape into real space. With humor and visual surprise, his works blur the boundaries between image and object, two-dimensional and three-dimensional space, and the ordinary and extraordinary.
