LEE Ying-Huang constructs quiet and subtle ink forests, layering ink on silk and allowing washes to softly diffuse across the surface. Through carefully considered blank space, he evokes a dreamlike dimension in which time appears to dissolve, reflecting states of both conscious and unconscious forgetting. His poetic, Zen-inflected landscapes of forests, mountains, and mist evoke memories and present solitary, detached scenes.

Guided by the poetic atmosphere of the composition, LEE Ying-Huang employs ink with remarkable sensitivity, drawing on the distinct characteristics of different ink sticks to evoke the many expressions of the forest. Created without a preliminary sketch, Developing Landscape–2 embraces a greater sense of spontaneity and freedom. Like a photograph gradually emerging in the developing process, the forest slowly reveals itself, inviting viewers to begin their visual journey from any point within the composition.
