Dreaming of the Occident Exhibition of Eric Fok-Hoi Seng”
The Far West—a land in the far west, once a blank space on maps yet to be explored, refers to Europe from an Eastern perspective. From space and culture to imagined geography, these aspects collectively shape our understanding of "place," becoming part of the exploration of self-identity, carrying memories, power, and ideology. Through retrospective historical texts, the work rediscovers "The Far West" within an Eastern perspective, and through the writing and depiction of maps, explores the world landscape woven by power and faith in the past.
