Matteo Casali Caramello was born in Schio, Italy, in 1994. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice in 2022, where he focused primarily on painting while also exploring sculpture, photography, and video art. He currently works as a full-time artist in Venice and serves as curator of the virtual collective NOTSpace. His work has received recognition in several art competitions, including the 2022 Padova Start Award, and has attracted the attention of galleries and art critics throughout Italy.
Matteo’s painting is figurative and emotionally charged. Influenced by artists such as Francis Bacon and Edvard Munch, his work explores loneliness, inner conflict, self-identity, and the complexities of human relationships in contemporary society. At the same time, he has developed a distinctive visual language of his own, using spontaneous brushwork and expressive color to capture the immediacy and fleeting beauty of a moment. The result is a body of work that feels both deeply personal and poetic.
