With “Werner”, artist Sandro Bacchi pays tribute to film director Werner Herzog by following a similar logic of accumulation and subtraction, construction and disruption. Various mediums are layered, covered, erased and rediscovered in visceral, expressive mark making that seeks to find a balance between control and chaos, finally allowing the image to emerge from the process rather than from a predetermined composition.
