ART TAIPEI 2026 Returns with 126 Galleries, Exploring “Symbiosis” Between Art, Technology and the Contemporary World
The 33rd edition of ART TAIPEI 2026, organised by the Taiwan Art Gallery Association, will take place from 30 October to 2 November 2026 at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1, with VIP Previews on 29 and 30 October. As one of the few long-established international art fairs in the Asia-Pacific region initiated and organised by a gallery association, ART TAIPEI continues to distinguish itself through its professional expertise and enduring commitment to the regional art ecosystem. This year’s edition brings together 127 selected galleries from Taiwan and abroad, comprising 66 Taiwanese galleries and 61 international exhibitors.
The 2026 edition presents a particularly strong line-up. Leading Taiwanese galleries including Tina Keng Gallery, Liang Gallery, Asia Art Center, Bluerider ART, Soka Art, YI YUN ART, and YIRI ARTS will participate, reflecting the depth of Taiwan’s gallery landscape, its rigorous curatorial practices and dynamic market. The international line-up is equally compelling, featuring internationally renowned galleries including Perrotin, with its roots in Paris and a global presence, as well as Singapore’s Richard Koh Fine Art, one of Southeast Asia’s prominent contemporary art galleries.
Of particular note is the return of Kaikai Kiki Gallery, founded by celebrated Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, to ART TAIPEI after several years. Its return brings renewed attention to the fair within the Asia-Pacific contemporary art market and further reinforces Taiwan’s position as an important hub for international artistic exchange.
Strong Growth in Korean Participation
Amid the rapid expansion and growing international influence of Korea’s contemporary art market, Korean participation at ART TAIPEI has increased significantly in 2026. Led by major Korean galleries Gana Art and GALLERY BATON, the number of participating Korean galleries has risen from 15 last year to 25 this year.
The expanded presence of Korean galleries not only reflects their ambition to deepen engagement across Asia’s contemporary art landscape, but also underscores Taipei’s increasingly important role as a regional art-market hub and meeting point for collectors across Asia.
Taipei Art Week Returns under the Theme “Velocity”
The acclaimed Taipei Art Week will return from 24 October to 2 November 2026. This year’s programme takes “Velocity” as its central concept, using dynamic radiating lines as a visual expression of art’s boundless energy and momentum.
Through a diverse programme of exhibitions and thematic projects, Taipei Art Week will connect more than 80 galleries, museums and art institutions across Taipei, extending the city’s cultural pulse beyond the fairground and into neighbourhoods throughout the capital. The initiative invites the public not merely to observe, but to participate in and resonate with the artistic energy of the city.
ART TAIPEI 2026: “Symbiosis”
Under the central theme “Symbiosis”, ART TAIPEI 2026 responds to the accelerating global wave of technological development and high-tech infrastructure. Rather than positioning humanity and technology within a hierarchical relationship, the fair proposes a symbiotic system in which the two are deeply interconnected and mutually sustaining.
Within this broader dialogue around symbiosis, the curatorial approaches of participating galleries converge around questions concerning the psychological and material conditions of contemporary life.
Against the backdrop of digital acceleration and the relentless pace of modern living, exhibitors are directing attention back to the physical presence and visual rhythms of artworks in the here and now. Some presentations encourage a slower and more sustained mode of looking—such as that proposed by Soka Art—creating contemplative spaces in which viewers may find moments of emotional stillness amid the surrounding noise.
At the same time, artists are exploring the material traces of physical labour and embodied experience. Through carving, moulding, layering and direct engagement with materials, their practices extend towards broader reflections on ecology, technology and cosmic order, revealing both the aesthetics of labour and the vitality inherent in material itself.
The fair also foregrounds dialogues surrounding cultural mobility and institutional reflection. Participating galleries present cross-cultural perspectives in which the expressive qualities of Eastern ink traditions intersect with the structures of Western abstraction. Others challenge the conventional commercial framework of the art fair altogether, transforming their booths into “temporary museums.”
By placing works by established masters alongside contemporary practices, these presentations create an evolving form of art-historical mapping within the fair itself—an approach exemplified by Tina Keng Gallery—and contribute to a fair characterised by intellectual inquiry as much as market exchange.
Continuing the exhibitors’ pioneering engagement with the evolving art landscape, ART TAIPEI further extends this spirit of critical inquiry through a series of cross-regional curatorial initiatives.
ART TAIPEI 2026 presents “Turning the Frown Upside-Down,” a special section dedicated to Japanese contemporary art, curated by Jeffrey Ian Rosen of Tokyo-based MISAKO & ROSEN. Focusing on the transformation of Japan’s contemporary art ecosystem since 2008, the section reconsiders the evolving relationships among artists, galleries, independent art spaces, and the market.
Bringing together leading Japanese galleries, independent art spaces, and experimental art organizations, the section highlights the continually evolving landscape of Japanese contemporary art through encounters across generations and diverse artistic practices. It also opens up new perspectives on alternative models of collaboration and future possibilities among artists, galleries, and art fairs.
International Forum Brings Together Leading Curatorial Voices
To deepen ART TAIPEI’s academic and international dialogue, the 2026 Taipei Art Week International Forum will take place on 27 October at the B1 Auditorium of the Taipei Fine Arts Museum.
Moderated by Eva Lin, curator of the 2025 Jogja Biennale, the forum will welcome three internationally recognised curatorial figures:

* Binna Choi, curator of the Korean Pavilion at the 2026 Venice Biennale
Leading experts will come together to offer an in-depth examination of the cross-regional networks shaping contemporary art today. Under the theme “Curating Now: Responding to the Present,” the forum will foster forward-looking international dialogue on culture and the arts.
ART TAIPEI Introduces AI-Powered Digital Assistant
In direct response to this year’s theme of “Symbiosis,” ART TAIPEI 2026 will introduce an AI-powered visitor assistant on its official website for the first time.
Accessible directly from visitors’ mobile devices, the digital assistant will provide bilingual and multilingual guidance, information on participating galleries and artworks—based on materials supplied by exhibitors—recommended routes through the fair, and an overview of on-site programmes.
The initiative is designed not only to make art more accessible to a broader public, but also to transform the conventional, passive experience of browsing information into an immediate and interactive dialogue. In doing so, ART TAIPEI introduces a new technological dimension to the fair, combining an intelligent visitor experience with meaningful data insights.
