The work integrates the spatial order of traditional garden lattice windows with the refined textures of wood carving. One side evokes lotus shadows and flowing water; the other suggests a quiet, secluded stone path.
By placing a “garden swing” within the screen, the artist transforms physical motion into a psychological oscillation. Through the interplay of screen and swing, the work creates a space where concealment and revelation, stillness and movement, coexist.
Composed of three panels, with the central screen becoming a swing, the piece redefines the screen as a medium that shapes perception and guides the body. As a “transitional object,” it mediates between inner and outer worlds—both sheltering and permeable, allowing light, gaze, and emotion to pass through.
Titled Listening to Snow, the work evokes an imagined sound rather than a visible scene—an inner resonance shaped by memory, waiting, and absence. The scene is present, yet the mind drifts elsewhere.
