There was a time, during the more difficult days of making art, when I farmed for several years under the condition that I could use a small farm hut as my studio. The chaotic process of a beginner farmer, with crops and weeds tangled together, reflected the imperfections of our lives just as they are. These are memories I have carried into my paintings.
The animals that appear in my works are also companions I met during that time. That, to me, is my own kind of realism.
