Clouds drifting across the sky allow us only fleeting glimpses of their forms. Some days they look like dogs, other days like birds or creatures from the sea—but soon enough, they dissolve and disappear. Our eyes and hearts try to hold onto those moments, yet clouds, by their very nature, never stay.
I am drawn to that very ephemerality. The shapes of clouds—appearing before us and vanishing just as quickly—resemble human memories, emotions, or the scenes that make up a life. We wish to keep them, but they inevitably scatter. And that inevitability is what makes them precious, and beautiful.
Glass becomes a medium through which I can hold onto these moments. A material that once flowed hot becomes fixed as it cools; in the same way, the cloud forms captured in glass are crystallizations of the desire to preserve what is destined to fade. The glass clouds I create are not merely objects; they are attempts to momentarily halt the dispersing flow of time.
