Through techniques such as baimiao (outline drawing), rubbing, and silk-screen printing, the contours of plants are transformed into traces. By allowing mineral pigments and water to seep and diffuse, images repeatedly emerge and recede across the pictorial surface. Flowers and grasses become afterimages of time, recording the rhythm of the moment of viewing and the state of the body. These layered traces, like fragments in a diary that are written and erased again and again, preserve the weight of memories left by walking and gazing.
