TUTU | The Taste of Power | Comprehensive materials | Diameter:100 cm | 2025
TUTU | The Taste of Power | Comprehensive materials | Diameter:100 cm | 2025

TUTU's works cleverly incorporate "playful" elements, constructing a superficial world of luxury, joy, and material abundance by adorning characters with cosmetic products, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, crowns, and other fashionable accessories. These accessories are not merely external decorations but also symbols of the pursuit of luxury, happiness, and material well-being. However, with keen insight, TUTU reveals the profound paradox hidden beneath the glamour—namely, that behind this seemingly dazzling facade lies a concealment and avoidance of the true self. In the works, the characters present themselves as innocent, humorous, and extravagant, yet in truth they are rebelling against various social constraints and conventions. Through this, TUTU explores the common phenomenon in contemporary society where individuals must play multiple roles, and even occasionally abandon their authentic selves, becoming "chameleons" in order to gain social recognition and acceptance. This way of life is often accompanied by hypocrisy and contradiction, forcing people to constantly seek a balance between authenticity and pretense. TUTU exposes the social psychology and human struggles behind this phenomenon, prompting viewers to deeply reflect on self-identity, social recognition, and the relationship between truth and disguise.

TUTU believes that this is an era in which ordinary people can most easily make their voices heard. Thanks to the rise of self-media, every humble individual can freely express their views and present their way of life. Regardless of their identity or location, they are all equal and enjoy the right to speak fairly. TUTU attempts to remove the mask and reveal the true self hidden deep within—innocent, witty, free, uninhibited, and disdainful of all constraints. Through the series of works in the exhibition, TUTU lays out and reinforces this concept: desire and human nature. "I am who I am—a most authentic, ordinary person."
