Curatorial Analysis: From Organic Seeds to Rational Aesthetics

In recent years, Liao Ying-Hsi has shown a distinct preference for singular forms symbolizing seeds (the "Mibo" series) and DNA. The works presented in this exhibition continue her core creative themes of Love, Hope, and Harmony, while evolving her visual language into more abstract and rational forms.
This movement toward abstraction and purification serves a dual purpose: it fulfills the artist’s pursuit of aesthetic purity while simultaneously reflecting on contemporary global challenges—pollution, population growth, and the shifting human demand for food driven by commercial mechanisms. The most fundamental shift in this landscape begins with genetic modification.
By integrating the imagery of seeds and reducing them to primordial shapes like circles and rhombuses, the artist reveals a more distilled exploration of form, light, and color. This transformation mirrors the shift in human perception following the advent of genetic engineering—a transition from an organic, natural world toward an artificial, rationalist aesthetic.
